Beijing
    Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and has a population of 19,612,368 as of 2010. The city is China's political, cultural, and educational center. Beijing is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, and it has been the political centre of China for centuries. The city is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, and huge stone walls and gates, and its art treasures and universities have made it a centre of culture and art in China.
 
Travel to Beijing
    The Beijing Capital Airport (PEK) can be reached directly by flights from cities all over the world. The Conference Center of Applied Physics is usually reached by taxi in about 40 minutes (about 12 € ) or by subway (about 4 €) in about 1 hour.
　

Travel from Beijing to Lanzhou
    It is convenient to travel from Beijing to Lanzhou and the ICPEAC conference. More than 10 direct flights are available daily between Beijing Capital Airport and Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport. The ticket fee is about 170 €/person. Please find the airline information listed below. Traveling by train is also a possible way to Lanzhou and the ticket fee is € 40~70 € / person. However, it will take about 20 hours and participants are therefore kindly advised to make their travel plans in advance. For example, if you were to leave Beijing by train on Monday, July 22th at 8pm, you would arrive at Lanzhou on July 23th at 1pm, well in time for the ICPEAC Welcome Reception (starts at 6pm). The train schedule information is also attached.
